Melissa Grace Young will lead a 4 hour workshop introducing mixed media art journaling with a focus on creative collage techniques.
This will be super fun and fast paced, with no time to question yourself, all set in a judgement-free zone. We start with a spontaneous approach to the blank page with spray stains to create astounding backgrounds. Warning, spray stains can be addictive and cause wild levels of excitement!
Then we begin adding collage elements, mark-making, & creative lettering to finish your pages. Hands on experience with different mediums- water-soluble pencils, paints, markers, inks- allows you to discover your favorites.
Having others working around us in artistic pursuit allows us to feed off their enthusiasm. “Time spent in artistic communion” is how Zet Baer, a recent student, phrased it. We’re able to witness how others approach a page and to see their processes. This art journaling workshop will introduce you to new tools to incorporate into your art, stimulate your creative flow, and hopefully inspire a regular journaling practice.
Suitable for the beginner as well as experienced creators.
